When scrapbooking goes too far...

It is possible, yes, to take scrapbooking too far. You scoff?

Just because there are no safe flat surfaces in my home, doens't mean that there isn't a line to be crossed. The other night, I took it it to far. Having not crafted in awhile (been sewing, duh), Bob came home from Costco with the groceries. (pause and take a breath)

I... I scrapbooked the wipes container.

Now, you must know, I didn't do it for your benefit. I just thought about the container sitting there on the shelf in logoed splendor and thought - yuck. So, I scrapbooked it. *sigh* Forgive me?

Life Artist Confession

If you can take your eyes off of the palette to the left for just a moment, Little M has croup. *sigh* Now, this alone is not my confession, although it could be. Last holiday season, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Hand, Foot & Mouth disease and then for Christmas 06, Little M got Rubella (as in the extremely rare German Measles). So the fact that this year she has croup is just par for the course. No flu at our house, huh uh, just bizarre illnesses.

Anyway, back to the confessing. She has croup and you know all I can think about is the sewing of these boutique outfits so... yes, I took my tired, sick baby fabric shopping. Now - usually - she doesn't nap until noon, but today, at 10:30 she was saying, "I'm tired. Go home."

And me, with my creative selections already made, I stayed in the fabric cutting line while she moaned. I'm so ashamed! But not ashamed enough to show off the incredible palette I found! Sick, isn't it? It can't be helped though. When a new art form grabs hold of you, you simply must shop for supplies so that you can create. Well, with that off my chest, I'm off to sew.

Look what I made!

How is it possible that I have Bigger M to seven and a half years and I didn't know about this incredible clothing movement called Boutique?

When I was little, my Gramma Summer called them Cupcake Dresses, but today, those same ruffled-beribboned dresses are called Boutique. And the hairbows? To die for... four inches around, these hairbows are pure ribbon confection for the hair!

I need to get some boutique style stuff for my girls - let me tell you! I found a great new website that has me completely smitten that offers ebooks on how to make a variety of cool, boutique clothes (and a whole lot more) but I couldn't even wait to go buy fabric! View this awesome new site today and let me know what you think http://www.youcanmakethis.com/ I simply had to improvise, using what random things I had here at the house!

Here is what I managed to come up with today... I am completely hooked! With twelve days to Christmas, and so much left to do, all I want to do is create these over the top get ups for Bigger M and Little M to flounce around in! Oh, and just so you know, this dress isn't even close to the full on boutique style that I'm dreaming of. Just head to ebay and type in the word Boutique to get an eye full!
